Eagles
There are many types of eagle in the world, and more than 60 only in Africa and Eurosia! Today we'll learn facts about 3 known types of eagles: Clearly recognized by its white head, brown body, and hooked yellow beak, the bald eagle (third image) has been the national emblem of the United States of America since 1782. A Bald Eagle isn’t bald at all. They are called bald because of their white heads. They're a protected specie at North America since 1940. A Bald Eagle can live 20-30 in the wild and over 30 years in captivity. They can reach 71 to 96 centimeters and they weigh 3 to 6.5 kilos. They have a membrane above their eyes to protect them from sun. This amazing eagle can fly up in the sky up to 10,000 feet from the ground and it can fly up to 40 miles per hour! Bald eagles have amazing eyes, they are capable of seeing fish in the water from several hundred feet above, while soaring, gliding or in flapping flight! Bald eagles eat fish, dead bodies (corpses) and small animals and birds. Their wing span can reach 2.5 meters! Bald eagles stay with their companion for their hole live. Female bald eagles are bigger than males. Females born 1 to 3 eggs each year. As its name suggests, sea eagle (first image) live near water. Sea eagles vary in size, from Sanford's sea eagle, averaging 2.0–2.7 kg, to the huge Steller's sea eagle, weighing up to 9 kg. At up to 6.9 kg, the white-tailed eagle is the largest eagle in Europe. Bald eagles can weigh up to 7.5 kg, making them the largest eagle native to North America. The white-bellied sea eagle can weigh up to 3.4 kg. Their diets consist mainly of fish and small mammals. These eagles breed only in far eastern Russia, along the coasts and surrounding islands of the Sea of Okhotsk and Bering Sea. Golden Eagle (second image) is North America's largest bird and the national bird of Mexico. Today, golden eagles are protected by law. They can reach 75 to 90 centimeters and 3 to 6,5 kilos. Golden eagles eat rabbits, marmots, and ground squirrels. They also eat carrion, reptiles, birds, fish, and smaller fare such as large insects.
